Kayavak and online speaking coaches
Popular AI speaking coaches such as Yoodli and Big Interview run online. Kayavak runs on your own computer. Here's what that changes, and where the online tools are the better choice.
Checked in October 2026. Other products change often, so check their own websites for their current features, prices and privacy terms.
The main difference: where your practice goes
Online coaches work in your web browser: you sign in, record, and the recording is analysed by the service. That's convenient, and it's how they offer team features, but it means your face and voice go to someone else's servers, under their privacy policy.
Kayavak is an app you install. It analyses your camera and microphone on your own computer, keeps only movement points (never video), and doesn't need an account. There's no Kayavak server that receives your sessions at all; the privacy policy lists the few times the app uses the internet.

Where the online tools are a better fit
Be honest with yourself about what you need:
- Teams and coaches. If a trainer or manager needs to watch your recordings and leave comments, an online tool does that; Kayavak deliberately keeps everything on your computer.
- Practising on a phone or tablet. Kayavak needs a Mac, Windows or Linux computer.
- Courses and video lessons. Big Interview, in particular, is known for its library of lessons. Kayavak focuses on practice and feedback, with short guides on the website.
- No install allowed. If you're on a work computer where you can't install apps, a browser tool may be your only option.
Where Kayavak is the better fit
- You won't practise on camera if it's uploaded. Many people don't, and that's exactly who Kayavak is for.
- Free, with no limits. No trial, no paid tier and no cap on how often you practise.
- Your language. Practise in 13 languages, including eight Indian languages, with filler words measured in each.
- Poor or no internet. After the first launch, it works offline.
- Seeing yourself without seeing your face. Kayavak replays you as an avatar, so you can study your posture and gestures without the discomfort of watching yourself on video.
Try it side by side
Nothing stops you using both. Kayavak is free and takes about two minutes from download to your first feedback, so the easiest comparison is to try a mock interview and see how it feels.
