Privacy policy
Kayavak is built so that your practice never leaves your computer. This page lists everything it keeps, every time it uses the internet, and what this website counts.
Last updated 15 October 2026. Kayavak is made by Kalyan Kaushik K N in Hyderabad, India. Questions about privacy: kayavak@proton.me.
The short version
- Your video is never stored and never uploaded. Camera frames are turned into movement points in memory and thrown away.
- Everything you practise stays on your computer. There's no account and no Kayavak server that receives your sessions.
- The app uses the internet only for the things listed below, and never sends anything about your sessions.
- This website sets no cookies and uses no third-party analytics. It counts visits, downloads and likes without keeping anything that identifies you.
What the app keeps, on your computer only
Kayavak keeps its data in a folder in your home folder (.kayavak):
- Sessions: movement points (the positions of your face, hands and body, not images), the transcript of what you said, the report, and the audio only if you chose to keep it.
- Settings, your practice plan and slide decks (as text; slide images are never kept).
- Downloaded models for tracking and transcription.
You can back it all up to one file, restore it on another computer, or delete everything from Settings → Your data. Uninstalling the app and deleting the .kayavak folder removes every trace.
When the app uses the internet
| When | What it contacts | What is sent |
|---|---|---|
| First launch and setup | Google (MediaPipe models), npm, Hugging Face (Whisper speech model) | Ordinary download requests for the model files. Nothing about you. |
| Checking for updates (on by default, can be turned off in Settings) | downloads.kayavak.com | A request for the public list of the latest release. Nothing about you or your sessions. |
| Downloading an update you accepted | downloads.kayavak.com | A download request. The file is checked against its published fingerprint before it's installed. |
| You send feedback from the app | kayavak.com | Your message, the email address if you give one, your operating system and Kayavak version, and the diagnostics report only if you tick the box after reading it in full. |
| You send a crash report | kayavak.com | The error report, shown to you in full first. Your home folder and user name are removed. Nothing from your sessions. |
| You press "I like Kayavak" | kayavak.com | That one click. Nothing else. |
The AI that writes coaching notes and mock-interview questions runs on your computer through Ollama, if you install it. Your words are never sent to an online AI service.
What this website counts
kayavak.com counts visits, downloads per platform, likes and roadmap votes. With each count it notes the approximate city, region and country that Cloudflare (which hosts the site) derives from the network. It doesn't store IP addresses, doesn't set cookies, and doesn't use third-party analytics. To stop one address inflating the counts, a one-way scrambled form of the address is held in memory for up to an hour and never written down. Your browser remembers, in its own storage, whether it has already counted today's visit, liked Kayavak or voted, so it doesn't count twice; you can clear that whenever you like.
The developer receives a daily email with these totals by place.
Feedback and release emails
- Feedback sent from the website or the app is emailed to the developer and not stored on the website. It's screened for explicit content and refused if it has any. If you give an email address it's used only to reply to you.
- Release emails (when available): if you subscribe, your email address is stored so a short email can be sent when a new version comes out. You must confirm from the email first; unconfirmed addresses are deleted after 7 days. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing deletes your address.
Children
Kayavak is a general practice tool with no account and no data collection, and it's built never to deal with explicit content of any kind. It doesn't knowingly collect anything from anyone, including children.
